BUSINESS CONTROLLER – Business Unit Automation

Sandvik Mining and Rock Solutions, Digital Mining Technologies (DIGITEC) Division provides the most comprehensive offering of mine planning, mine optimization, collision avoidance and autonomous equipment solutions in the world. We have hubs in Brisbane, Australia, Montreal, Canada and Tampere, Finland with a purpose to make mining safer, more productive and cost efficient. Our focus is developing world leading solutions for mine planning, operations management, collision avoidance and autonomous equipment solutions, with the aim to revolutionize the underground and surface mining industry.

Now we are looking for a Business Controller for Business Unit (BU) Automation to support in our growth in mining digitalization. BU Automation’s home is in Tampere, Finland and we work closely together with our Sandvik Mining and Rock Solutions (SMR) sales areas to serve our customers. Automation BU offering covers AutoMine, Newtrax and Universal Field Robots (UFR) offering. Business Unit is developing fully automated and robotic mining technologies for mobile machinery, including machine vision, machine learning and artificial intelligence with an aim to revolutionize the underground and surface mining industry.

About the job
In this position you are a true business partner in a role that calls for an experienced finance professional who is organized, analytical and networking partner with a drive to support the Business Unit in long term strategy execution. You are a member of Automation Business Unit management team and a key stakeholder to Divisional management. You work closely with Division, Business Area, Production Units and Sales Area finance colleagues globally. Your task is to provide financial information for the performance management process, follow up on the business unit’s results, as well as validate business cases and investment proposals. You create forecasts and estimates, support in strategic 3- and 6-year planning, analyze and follow up on performance, and present your findings to provide actionable recommendations and support decision-making. In addition, you contribute with your financial knowledge to various change and development projects and drive process improvements and initiatives to enhance reporting capabilities and business insights. 

The location for this position is in Tampere city center, Tulli Business Park. There are excellent parking possibilities and short walking distance from train and bus station. We have hybrid office/home working environment. Occasional overseas travel is part of your job, approximately 1-3 times a year. Who you are?
We are looking for someone with a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Finance or Business combined with 7-10 years’ experience in Business Controlling, Accounting, Reporting/Forecasting. You should have strong skills in Power BI and Excel, along with a keen analytical mindset. Knowledge of ERP systems (SAP S4/Hana, Lean system, MS Dynamics 365), as well as OneStream is considered an advantage. Familiarity with IFRS reporting standards and project revenue recognition is highly valued. As you will be working in a truly global environment and Sandvik’s business language is English, you will require excellent English skills, verbal and written.
